Renovating and adding to an existing home…
When doing renovations, the process is very similar to designing a new home, communication remains the key ingredient to a successful outcome. Organizing your thoughts in the form of pictures, and a written description of what you would like to achieve will help us begin the process. We will visit your home to see how you are currently living and will discuss what benefits will be achieved with potential alteration and additions. There are many factors to be taken into account when considering making spatial changes to an existing residence. Amongst these are how a proposed alteration will affect the existing structure of the home and aesthetically how the existing and newly proposed will relate to one another. As with designing a new home any proposed change will take into account flow and function between spaces, visual direction and amenities, sun orientation to emit natural light, as well as topography in the case of a new addition. We will follow up the initial on site meeting with our “program meeting” to further discuss in detail the spatial flow, function, furniture placement, specific room amenities, code related issues, and budget. Based on our programming “roadmap” we will develop potential conceptual solutions. These will be conveyed in the form of loose hand sketches, 3 dimensional images and or computer-generated drawings. The conceptual design is refined with your feedback and developed further in incremental steps to produce scaled floor plans and elevations.
It is our goal at Salmon Falls Architecture is to provide you with an enjoyable experience throughout the entire process and in the end have a home that we are all proud of.
